Do You Know When to Fold Your Hand?

To be a good poker player, you're going to need to know when to fold your hands, and you may have a tough time learning just how to do so. Of course, most players think their hands are going to win, so they may not think about what their opponents are going to have, too.

At many online casino games, certain players usually "bluff" even though their hand is worthless, but you don't want to gamble with your entire pile of chips unless you know you have the best hand of every table there; if you don't take heed, you could be out of the game.

Therefore, it's very important to know when to fold as a strategy in any casino games, but especially in online casino games that are "no limit." If you don't fold when the time is right, you'll find that you're out of the game quickly and you're probably going to have a tough time winning. Texas hold 'em games are well known for their "bluffing" tactics among players, and hands that beat yours with the turn of a final card are quite usual, too.

It's also harder to know when it's time to bow out in an online casino game, because you can't hear the other players talking or read their facial expressions or body language. However, you can learn to "read players" in online games by seeing if you can discern a pattern in their betting. For example, you may see a player that goes "all in" constantly and never folds. If that's true, it's probably also true that a good poker hand is going to beat him.

However, sometimes a player will fold as a matter of course in most games, and then will all of a sudden "go all in;" that can mean that player is sitting very well; that means you should fold unless yours is stellar. All good players know when it's time to get out of a game. With Texas hold 'em, you have to see what cards there are in the middle of the table and then figure the possibilities are from those.

For example, if the "flop" is three suited cards, somebody may have a flush at the table. With three consecutive cards, somebody at the table could have a straight. With three of a kind, there may be a full house at the table, etc. If you don't take look at these possibilities and keep them in mind, it's likely that you will lose. However, if you can make a hand on "the flop," remember, too, that somebody else might be able to as well. Their hand could be of a higher value than yours is.

With online casino games, remember that two straights are not equal. Instead, the player with the highest valued straight is going to win. The kicker card can also determine who the winner is going to be in an online casino game. A lot of players forget about this and may lose everything if this is true.

Just as one example, if you have an Ace and a Queen in your hand and another player has an Ace and a King in his hand, he will win if the flop brings a pair of aces. That will mean you have a pair of aces, true, but the other player's King "kicker" is going to ensure that he wins. You need to know when to fold with online casino games, and to do that you need to learn how to read the other players and guess at their potential hands. If you can do that, you can also guess which may beat yours.
