Knowing When To Fold in Poker

Do you know when to fold your hand in poker? It might be something that's tough to learn, but it is something you are going to have to learn if you want to play right. Obviously, you think your hand is going to win, so you may not think about what your opponent has.

Many online casino games have players who always "bluff" even though their hand is worthless. For online casino gambling, especially if you want to save your entire stash of chips, though, you should make sure you have the best hand of anyone at the table, or you could be out. Therefore, you need to know when to fold so that you have the best strategy possible.

This is true not only online, but with "no limit" online games, too. If you don't fold when the time is right, you'll find yourself out of the game quickly and you won't be successful when you try to win. Texas hold 'em games, for example, are particularly notorious for having bluffers, and they're also well-known for having players who have hands that are better than yours, simply with the turn of a final card.

It can be harder to know when you should fold if you're playing in online casino games, because you can't tell by the other players' body language what they may be thinking, and you can't read their facial expressions or hear what they're saying, either. The only thing you can do with online playing is to see if you notice a pattern in how they bet. For example, does one player call "all in" after several hands, all the time? Does he or she NEVER fold a hand? If that's true, the chances are good that you can beat him if you have a good poker hand.

On the other hand, if a player constantly folds and then all of a sudden goes "all in," he or she will probably have one of the best hands at the table. And that means that you should probably fold if your hand is mediocre. You need to know when to fold, and the best players have figured this strategy out. With Texas hold 'em, you need to analyze the cards that are in the center of the table and see what possibilities may remain.

For example, if the "flop" is three cards of suit, someone at the table may have a flush. If they have three consecutive cards, someone could have a straight. With three of a kind, someone may have a full house, etc. If you don't think about these possibilities, you may just lose. However, if you can make one of these hands on the "flop," you also have to consider that someone else may have done so to, and their hand could be higher value than yours.

With online casino games, the playing field is not equal if two players get a straight. Instead, it'll go to the player with the highest valued straight. Online casino gambling can also be somewhat difficult because the "kicker" card may determine who the winner is. A lot of players forget about this rule and they may lose their stash in online games, if that does happen.

As one example, if you hold an Ace, Queen pair and another player holds an Ace, King pair, AND then the flop card gives a pair of aces, you'll have a pair of aces and the other player will too. However, the other player is going to win because he has a "King" kicker, while you only have a "Queen" kicker. Therefore, you need to know when to fold in an online casino game; to do that, you'll have to learn how to read other players and realize what hands they may have, and which may beat yours.
